Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) protocols. The objective of
the exercise series is for CERTs, Neighborhood Watch Programs, Neighborhood
Associations, Community / Faith Based Organizations, Citizen Corps, Fire Corps and
others to work as a team to become better prepared for the next disaster their community

Basic Disaster Ministry is an introduction for all people interested in the unique and important role the faith community plays in disaster mitigation, preparedness, and response in the United States. Participants learn about disasters, traditional responses to a disaster and how the faith-based response is different, how to prepare for a disaster, and ways to get involved after disaster strikes. Regardless of the event, business owners are often faced with difficult decisions in the

several businesses who will recount their stories of recovery and the valuable lessons
learned from their experiences. Each crisis can teach different lessons as those who
respond face events ranging from building fires to hurricanes. A Question & Answer

During an emergency, it’s imperative that those within your organization know how to
communicate effectively. The need to communicate has led to increasing use of Social
Media platforms during recent disasters across the globe. The most recent examples of
expanded use of Social Media during a crisis include the Joplin Tornado and Virginia
Earthquake. In each case, various social media tools were used not only to disseminate
news about the disasters, but also coordinate the response and recovery.
Join the United States Small Business Administration and co‐sponsor Agility Recovery as
we welcome a social media expert from the American Red Cross to discuss the steps and
best practices for developing your own organization’s strategy for Crisis Communications
utilizing Social Media.

Please come to a meeting of the West Springfield Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) to learn
how to volunteer to be active in emergency response and preparedness in your
community. Specific topics will include the emergency training schedule for upcoming
months, a table top exercise, distribution of MRC t‐shirts to registered volunteers, and a
question and answer period.

and information about pet protection and survival. Flu shots will also be available. The
