Looking to help out with preparedness or response activities in Western Massachusetts? There are avenues for both individuals or agency/organizations to get involved.

The Medical Reserve Corps is a community-based, civilian volunteer program that helps build the public health infrastructure of communities nationwide. Each MRC unit is organized and trained to address a wide range of challenges from public health education to disaster response. Massachusetts Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters – Mass VOAD’s purpose is to foster more effective service to people affected by disaster through communication, coordination, cooperation, collaboration, convening mechanisms and outreach. Western Massachusetts Disaster Animal Response Coalition – WMDART’s mission is to assist with the care of domesticated animals that have been displaced by a disaster. WMDART also promotes education, safety and disaster planning to its members, animal owners, city or town government leaders, emergency responders and other interested parties.
