Deerfield Police Department – Officer Down Rescue (ODR) Instructor Training

Description: The Deerfield Police department, with grant funding from the Western Regional Homeland Security Advisory Council, will be hosting  Officer Down Rescue – Instructor Course, September 12 – 14, 2012  from 0830 – 1630.  The course will be conducted by STS Consulting, Lunch will be provided and OEMS credits will be applied for prior to the course.This training will encompass techniques that will enable Law Enforcement Officers to become instructors in Officer Down Rescue &, Self Care and Buddy Aid. Participants will learn techniques such as but not limited to conducting self assessments, hemorrhage control, application of tourniquets, vehicle rescues, ballistic shield rescues, giving medical care behind cover and the use of improvised bandaging techniques. Course participants will conduct these medical drills with, two hands, single hand, vision impaired and in a variety of positions.  Course participants will engage targets down range with their department issue weapons (.40, .45. .223. 5.56 or slugs) from a variety of positions to make the training as realistic as possible.

Participants: This course is open to law enforcement and EMS agencies in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire & Hampden county. Class size is limited to 30 participants.
