Regional Incident Response to Terrorists Bombing (2013)

WRHSAC has provided funds for members of the Hazardous Materials Response Team as well as 30 other first responders not associated with the Hazmat team to attend the Incident Response to Terrorist Bombing (IRTB) Train the Trainer course at New Mexico Tech’s Energetic Materials Research School. These personnel are now able to offer to their fellow first responders. Click here to learn more about scheduling a trainer with your agency.

This project also brought the classroom condense version of IRTB to the region. Over 150 personnel from the Commonwealth attended the course.

Region 4 & 5 Hazardous Materials Response Teams Equipment Enhancements (2012)

Through this project the Western Region Homeland Security Advisory Council provided funds for equipment additions and upgrades to the Region 4 & 5 Hazardous Materials Response Teams in Western Massachusetts. The equipment will improve detection capabilities and responder protection equipment. Purchases include the Area Rae Rapid Deployment kit which provides for quick assessment of chemical and radiological threats. This project was completed in 2012.
