Handheld GPS Unit Training

The Western Region Homeland Security Advisory Council presents Handheld GPS Unit Training on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. The training will be conducted at the John W. Olver Transit Center, 12 Olive Street Greenfield.

On-site registration begins at 8:30 am. The training will begin promptly at 9:00 am and be completed by 4:00 pm.

This is a performance level training for the operation and use of Handheld GPS units, specifically the Garmin Oregon 650 & Rino 655T.

The training will include an overview of GPS unit setup and functions, and applicable uses such as culvert and debris documentation, critical infrastructure location data,  and search and rescue. The training will include both classroom lecture and demonstration and in-field unit use.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own GPS unit as long as it is a Garmin Oregon 650 or Rino 655T. Some GPS units will be available for use at the training.

The training is free and food will be provided.
